Stop diverting funds from academics to support failing athletics programs.

The Issue

NMSU has repeatedly transferred funds from academics and research to support an athletics program that is consistently losing money. This has and is continuing to occur despite increasing tuition, stagnant faculty pay, hiring freezes, and rising faculty and student dissatisfaction. It's time for the Board of Regents to realize that their priority should be to address support for academic achievement and research breakthroughs rather than continuing to prop up athletic programs which will never make money for the university because Las Cruces is not a large enough media market.
