New Hampshire Governor Margaret Wood Hassan: Permanency of New Hampshire Cold Case Unit

The Issue

Victims and their families deserve justice. Our future deserves protection from murderers that walk freely to murder again. The Cold Case Unit gives hope to many that have waited for justice, the first hope they've had in decades. A law and a promise were made to the families of unsolved murders. That promise was to pursue justice through the determination of the NH Cold Case Unit. Cold cases are proactive and it's been proven over decades that most do not get solved because of inconsistency in the investigations. The New Hampshire Cold Case Unit has been an example for other states to follow. They have proven their worth by arrest made in a 1989 quadruple homicide, 1988 double homicide, 2001 homicide, and the closing of a 1990 homicide. Arrest in cases that would still be unsolved if it wasn't for them. They are crucial in the quest to solve unsolved murders. We petition that the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit become a permanent agency in the state of New Hampshire.
