Letter to the Superintendent of Schools and Mt Lebanon School Board:

As a taxpayer, citizen and as a parent of Mt. Lebanon school student, I was deeply offended when my son arrived home one day wearing a Chick-Fil-A “Spirit Night” Sticker attached to his shirt. I learned that our going to dinner that night at Chick-Fil-A would benefit our school with a portion of the proceeds. It all alleges to a benefit for our school district.

And what IS that benefit?

To teach our children that “all people are not created EQUAL”?

I choose not to go to Chick-Fil-A that night because I didn’t want 90% of my money to go to those closed-minded bullies.

Want to get a head start on learning? Why wait until August 27 when school starts? Why don’t you show our students that this school district and this community stands up to bullies and send all of their money back to them. And just exactly how much has MTLSD benefitted from these fundraisers? I think you can get a lot more money in a better way by recycling metal at school, and at least that benefits us in positive ways: it teaches recycling, the economics of materials, and shows how people can work together to help their school, new learning about our environment and how much money, energy and time we can save by using existing resources instead of exploiting natural resources. This promotes well being for ALL the people in our community.
