I was awed by Ferrari since my childhood. Not just by cars themselves, but racing heritage, race drivers and team spirit - so everything that makes the Ferrari feeling. I will never forget a statemet of a Car & Driver journalist when he was testing the 330/GTC in 1667:

"At the top - at the absolute top - in the automotive enthusiasts' hierarchy of the cars of the world, there is only one. Ferrari. [...] There may be better GT cars, or Ford may beat Ferrari at Le Mans, but the Ferrari remains king.".

Flattering, isn't it?

I don't have a chance to own a Ferrari car but started to collect Ferraris in 1/18 size. In 1999 I bought the first one: an F50 by Bburago. Now I have 140+ pieces. Do you know how many may manufacturers could I buy models from in those times? Here is a list of them who were available in the '90s and the early 2Ks:

Anson, BBR, Bburago, Chrono, CMC, ERTL, Exoto, GMP, Guiloy, Mattel / Hot Wheels, Jouef, Kyosho, Maisto, Majorette, Mira, Paul's Model Art / Minichamps, Revell, Techno Giodi, UT (Unique Toys Models) and Universal Hobbies

And today? From the collectors point of view the changes are disappointing. Now we can buy models from:

CMC, Exoto, Mattel and Kyosho

That's all.

CMC are quite fair but has a narrow range of types. Exoto is overcomplicated, overpriced and has quality problems and zero customer care. Kyosho, the favourite of many collectors became expensive, they are now far overpriced for the quality. And there is Mattel. It was the weakest of them all, nowadays it's getting better, but their prices are continously raising, at least 20% up in the last 2 years.

There are two kind of collectors: some collects museum qualty models because of their quality, the others collect Ferraris. We, the majority who are the second type and surely paying $-millions as royalty fees ito your cassetta, would really appreciate if you could lower the fees and give manufacturing rights to many more companies. We wish to be able to buy cheaper models from a much broader selection. There are many companies, whose manufacturing abilities could meet the recommendations of collectors, including Norev, AutoArt, GreenLight, Yat Ming, Sun Star, Welly, and maybe a lot of the prior manufacturers would return to making Ferrari models. And alltogether they would lift up your royalty income and would make happy collectors all around the world. The many who can't afford a real Ferrari but would share their enthusiasm.

I hope you aggree and can make steps to make my petition lapsed.
