Horses are companion animals and arent meant for food! At one time or another, nearly all owned horse have been injected with  pain killers which have been proven scientifically to still remain in the meat that humans injest after slaughter--this could kill someone.! The method of slaughter is cruel and inhumane  and the Americans have stopped it--why dont we? Hardly any of the horse meat is eaten by Canadians but is mostly sent to Europe. Let them do their own dirty work! Horses dont go down nice and easy. They are extremely aware of whats about to happen and are quite hysterical at the time of execution and thus are shot randomly in the eyes and other body parts before death ensues. Does this sound humane to you ??We need to do something now as more than 1000 horses meet their death every month right here in Canada.at the slaughter-house.Horses have always trusted man and this is what we do to our companion animals.How can a country like Canada, that prides itself on fair and decent values, allow something like this to go on?
