WIC is a Federal Nutrition program for struggling families with young children. The checks they write are designated with specific amounts, Currently, a child will get only $6.00 a month to buy fresh fruits and vegetabl, that only buys maybe 3 green peppers or 2 lbs. of apples if you are lucky. While the majority of the checks ranging from $25-$28, are for inorganic milk, inorganic eggs and inorganic cereals made with genetically modified foods. Milk alone and cereal alone doesn't provide the necessary vitamins and minerals for our children as does fresh produce. Please sign this petition and make fresh produce be a priority for this very important federal nutrition program. Allow Recipients to freely use their stipend to purchase fruits and vegetables for their children and not be mandated to only purchase $6.00 a month.
