repatriate the Franchise for Miss Haiti Universe
repatriate the Franchise for Miss Haiti Universe
The Issue
There are many different pageants throughout the world, and we all know that the biggest and most watched one is Miss Universe.
Every country has a chance to participate in such event by sending their best representative. A Miss is the image and an ambassador of a country and should be given all the resources needed to represent her country in the best way possible in hope to shed some positive light on the country.
Before 2010 Haiti did not participate in the Miss Universe pageant for 22 years. It is then that Magali Febles, who lives in Puerto Rico and also holds the franchise for Miss Republic Dominican Universe took the franchise for Miss Haiti Universe. For the past three years (2010-2011-2012) Magali Febles did a horrible job with the national pageant and an even worst job to support the Miss. This year was the worst of it all. It is said that it is MANDATORY to hold a national pageant event to chose the Miss of the country and Magali did not do so. Miss Haiti 2011, Anedie Azael, did not even "pass the crown" or got involved in any way. Magali and a group of other people did a closed casting with about 9 or 10 girls, about 17 days before the begining of the competition in Las Vegas on December 1st. She chose Christela Jacques, a 19 year old girl. Miss Christela who is suppose to be the pride of the country was left with no training.
In an interview, Mis Christela stated that she did not deserve to be Miss Haiti and she should not have participated in the pageant as she was not well prepared and was not confident enough to compete against 88 other Misses.
Haitian or Not, if you agree that the Franchise and Organization of Miss Haiti Universe should be taken away from Magali Febles and given to a Haitian person, living in Haiti please sign the petition and share it.
A Miss is a role model for all, the young and the old, and if the Miss is well prepared she can be this great role model to help make a change, empower people by advocating positive messages to the country and to the world.
