Stop proposed changes to the habitat provisions of the Fisheries Act
Stop proposed changes to the habitat provisions of the Fisheries Act
The Issue
Section 35 of the Fisheries Act is an important piece of legislation that ensures fish habitat is protected from harmful alteration, disruption or destruction.
The Harper Government is proposing changes to Section 35 of the Fisheries Act that could significantly reduce the ability of the act to protect fish and fish habitat across the country by including the changes in the upcoming budget (see additional information in the link below).
We need to let them know that Canadian citizens value the natural environment and want it to be protected, that environmental legislation should be progressing not regressing, and that this type of change should be discussed in a public forum.
