Mediacom Cable Internet - Stop Data Caps!

The Issue

This morning, I saw a pop-up on my computer, which is hence a browser injection notice.  It asked if I was able to agree with the notice of data caps, and I refused to agree with the new agreement about data caps.

Taking effective on 9/7/2013, Mediacom will start implementing data caps plan to their customers. They claim that 97% of customers will not have a problem with their plans. And it is only 3% of customers that exceeds too much data. They establish that idea against 97% of customers? Why bug the majority of people, let alone 97% of customers.

We have way too much equipments nowadays using that is increasing the use of bandwidth for data. This data costs almost nothing to companies.  This is a way to make money, they will enforce this policy on all customers.  Even those loyal for years.  No grandfathered plans, every customer suffers.

With this day and age, we all with family members in each household are using internet with every devices.  Whether it is a desktop computer, laptop computer, or Tablet/iPad, etc. We do stream Netflix/Hulu, surf the internet, go Youtube, and gaming PCs (Steam/Twitch TV) it will easily exceed the allotted amount. We as customers, should not have to worry about the data caps each month. Accidental overages will happen, and only benefit Mediacom and that's the whole point of up-selling their new plans to make more money.

Please take the time to sign and share this petition, to notify Mediacom we will not accept unnecessary data caps. I also want to mention, even if Mediacom starts to do data caps and is successful, then the rest of ISP services will take in hand then use this strategy to make more money on themselves, and not of customer interests.

Also this petition is to protect other Mediacom users from suffering cancellation and termination fees because of the new data caps.  Many are stuck with paying a termination fee due to cancelling.  If a customer agrees originally with their plans, and Mediacom decided to change policy, it should then consider the contract void.

Thank you!
