All dogs that are included in the Bully Breed Ban have been given a bad reputation by society. There is proof that dogs are what the owners make them. In testing done by the American Temperament Test Society, the American PIt Bull Terrier 86.8% on their temperament rating scale, beating out the ever lovable Golden Retriever who scored an 85.2%. This stereotyping of breeds needs to stop. Dogs of the bully breeds are no more vicious than any other dog placed into the hands of irresponsible pet owners. The City of Sioux City needs to end this breed restriction now! If you want to cut down on dog attacks, start by raising standards of dog owners. Enforce leash laws, encourage obedience training, do background checks or home checks on people wanting dogs before allowing them, have mandatory spaying and neutering of all dogs unless owned by licensed breeders. All of these would be way more effective than banning a breed that neither contributes or takes away from your cause.
