The Issue
Dear Mr. Zuckerberg,
All that Hamsa Kaschgari did is to make use of his basic human right of expressing himself. Just because religious fundamentalists are offended by his remarks on Twitter, referring to prophet Muhammad, does not give them the right to call for his execution. Nor does the Saudi Arabian King have any right to detain him for an action that in no way represents a criminal offense anywhere in the World.
these actions clearly violate International law!
Hamsa Kaschgari is a Saudi Arabian newspaper journalist who made a few critical remarks about the prophet Muhammad.
"It started with a number of tweets which Hamza Kashgari made on the occasion of the birthday of the Prophet - the mawled. It was Saturday 4th of Feb. The tweets are emotionally charged conveying awe and love combined with pride and questioning. He was imagining an audience with the Prophet where Hamza would meet the Prophet as an equal, a peer, and a friend. Not a follower. Not an inferior or of a lesser status. He imagines him telling him that I will not kiss your hands. He imagines himself telling the Prophet that there are many things he loves about him as well as things he hates. And he says it all while imagining the Prophet accepting this form of behavior towards him, even encouraging it. Though also telling him that the people behind you will not accept it. That in this story it is the Prophet warning Hamza of his followers."
Realizing that a fast growing group of hateful Islamists in the Arab World wanted him executed for is remarks and that an arrest, requested by the Saudi King, was pending,
Kaschgari tried to flee to New Zealand and ask for political asylum.
The King of Saudi Arabia then requested for Hamsa Kaschgari to be extradited so that he could be put on trial for blasphemy.
By then, thousands of offended fundamental Islamists organized in a Facebook group where they call for the execution of the innocent journalist (https://www.facebook.com/groups/211533478943735/?ref=ts).
This is exactly where I call for your action, Mr. Zuckerberg. Please delete this hateful group from Facebook immediately! We will make sure that you fulfill your responsibilities as the founder of Facebook. You must prevent your organization to be hijacked by hateful individuals, who want to use it as an instrument of hate, which most certainly will result in the lynch murder of an innocent person.
Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Ralph Zehnder
