Marin County Board of Supervisors: Suspend approval of the 2012 Housing Element

Marin County Board of Supervisors: Suspend approval of the 2012 Housing Element
The Issue
The Citizens of Marinwood-Lucas Valley respectfully request six months for the opportunity to discuss the pros and cons of the 2012 Housing Element and its effects on the community in a series of local town halls.
Over 83% of all low income housing proposed in the 2012 Housing Element for Unicorporated Marin is located in Marinwood-Lucas Valley from St. Vincents-Silvera Ranch to Big Rock along the pristine Miller Creek Watershed. If the developments are built as proposed, it will increase our population of 6000 by 20%. This will burden our schools, police and fire departments, social services, and infrastructure Current taxpayers will be stuck with paying the increased costs. New traffic congestion and parking problems will have to be solved. These important aspects of the planned growth need to be discussed in open community forums as it will drastically alter the community forever.
The Board of Supervisors should trust the democratic process and allow citizens a voice in their future.
