Keep the Echo Park Farmers Market in Council District 13
Keep the Echo Park Farmers Market in Council District 13
The Issue
Dear Echo Park Neighbors,
The Los Angeles Redistricting Commission just recently completed its work of redrawing the City of Los Angeles Council Districts boundaries after months of public meetings and testimony.
The Commission will be forwarding its "Final Map Recommendation" to the City Council next week.
One of the recommended changes in the Council District boundaries places the Echo Park Farmers Market in Council District 1 (Reyes) instead of Council District 13 (Garcetti) where it was initiated with the support of Council Member Garcetti and the Echo Park community five plus years ago.
The new CD 13 map boundary heads north on Echo Park Avenue along the eastern part of Echo Park Lake and then turns west on Park Avenue , then heads north on Logan Street to Sunset Boulevard and then east again to Echo Park Avenue cutting out the city parking lot which houses the Farmers Market.
I am asking you to join me in requesting that the City Council adjust the Council Diistrict boundaries (literally by one block) in order to keep the Echo Park Farmers Market in CD 13 where it belongs.
Please sign the petition to keep the Echo Park Farmers Market in Council District 13.
Sincerely,
JOSE SIGALA
Echo Park Resident and Farmers Market Supporter
