For the last ten years the Jade Monkey, in Twin Street, Adelaide, has provided musicians, artists and art-lovers alike the opportunity to get together and enjoy live music. There have been dozens of Adelaide bands who have played at this venue and its ambience and history provide the perfect atmosphere for a real music experience. But now the Adelaide City Council has provided a new Hotel the permission to ban gigs and celebratory events at the Jade Monkey. We need to make a stand and stop such urban gentrification happening. These sort of actions only serve to weaken the overall artistic culture of Adelaide.
