Discipline/remove Officer Who Murders Pets

The Issue

We the citizens of Lexington, Fayette County and the Lexington-Fayette, KY Metropolitan Statistical Area do not feel Officer Jeff Brangers should continue to serve our communities as a law enforcement officer. Due to this Officers lack of sensible reasoning and flagrant disregard of safety for this community in handling neighborhood dogs on his property. This petition has been brought due to the information brought forth and admitted by Mr. Brangers in shooting of neighborhood dogs in Scott County he perceives “could be a threat” to his “livestock”. We fully understand any citizen has the right to protect livestock and property if indeed threatened or under attack. However a law enforcement officer that has a “shoot to kill” mentality toward innocent and non threatening animals as demonstrated and admitted by Officer Brangers is not acceptable. This is not the type of person we would like to serve and protect our community. We have seen officers with this mentality take human lives in the past and do not want this threat to community safety using his badge as a right to take a life because there "could" be a threat.

Officer Branger could simply get a livestock guardian dog, such as a Great Pyrenees, that has been raised with poultry and he would not need to worry about the safety of his poultry and murder any more pets.
