Let's Let Prostitutes Come To The Police For Help

Let's Let Prostitutes Come To The Police For Help

The Issue

Prostitution is sometimes a choice, and sometimes, people are forced into selling themselves. Regardless, it shouldn't be a crime for anyone in that position to ask for help.

I say, let's let these people have a safe place to go to. Let's help victims who have been assaulted.

Prostitution is a job, where someone provides a physical service for money. A lot of the time, prostitutes are either not given their payment, or are forced to do more than they are willing to do.

What I am proposing is that we allow prostitutes to come to the police for help, and to not go in jail for their profession. And if someone is a victim of sex-trafficking, they should be able to go to the cops, and turn in the person who made them go through a lot of horrible stuff. And if a prostitute is assaulted, they should be more than able to go to the police, and get the person who assaulted them, arrested; without having the fear of being arrested themselves, just because they have an unusual profession.

There are a lot of people who turn away from this topic, and justify not helping people in this position, because it is a morally touchy topic; because people want a family friendly town where sex isn't thrown into the open. No matter what a person's personal believes are, I think it is safe to say that everyone agrees that if someone is being abused and beaten, that they should be able to ask for help.

We should be arresting those who abuse prostitutes, and who sell people into sexual slavery. We should not arrest the victims, nor should we arrest someone who has chosen this as a profession.

Prostitutes are not endangering other people's lives. Their lives are the ones in danger.

Asking for help should not be a crime.
