Did you ever look at the checkout clerk in your supermarket and wonder why they had to stand all through their 8-hour shift?  In Europe, they all may sit at the job, and there is no loss of efficiency.

This is the kind of mistreatment of humans which occurs right under our noses every day, but we don't notice it.  We're immune and numb.  But ask a check-out clerk how he or she feels at the end of the sixth hour of standing.

This inhumane treatment must stop today.  Let's start with smaller chains like Whole Foods and Garden of Eden.  Eventually we can move on to the larger ones.
