Legalize Gay Marriage In New Jersey
Legalize Gay Marriage In New Jersey
The Issue
Currently, gay marriage is not legal in the state of New Jersey. However, recently, there was a chance to legalize it - however, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie rejected a gay marriage bill approved by lawmakers.
The federal government gives 1,138 benefits and responsibilities based on marital status. A few of those benefits are unpaid leave to care for an ill spouse, social security survivor benefits, and the right not to testify against one’s spouse, among others. Furthermore, the Governor did not make a democratic decision - according to a Quinnipiac University survey of 1,396 registered voters, 57 percent of respondents favor the legalization of gay marriage, while 37 percent do not.
Tell New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to support gay marriage, and have everyone treated equally.
