Hello, my name is LaShonda Jones. I am a 19 year old girl who was diagnosed with Scleroderma in the year 2008. Scleroderma is a connective tissue disease that involves changes in the skin, blood vessels, muscles, and internal organs. It is a form of an autoimmune disorder, a condition that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys healthy body tissue. When I found out I had Scleroderma, I had no details on it and the doctors weren’t much help. They did not know much about the cancer and so they told me it wasn't anything too serious. Personally, I feel that this cancer has taken over my whole life. I'm not able do anything that other teens my age do. I feel like a prisoner in my own home. I sit in my room most of the day because I don't have the strength to get up or because I'm in too much pain. I'm in pain every day of my life. My whole life has changed! I went from playing with my siblings and hanging out with friends to living my life on the internet. My family is the only thing that keeps me going every day. To go from something to nothing is hard to cope with and yet I still have not given up my faith. I will not give up on me or God! This is the first time I have ever really spoken about the cancer or really expressed my feelings about it but now I need help. I can no longer fight this battle on my own. I can't hide this from my family or friends anymore. On November 30, 2011 my Healthcare Insurance will be revoked. What am I supposed to do without my Photo Chemotherapy and my pain medication? I did reapply for Health Insurance earlier this year but the process has not moved along at all! So this is my cry for your help. I simply do not have the money to pay for my chemo nor do I have the money to pay for my high priced medications. We have tried every means available to speed up the process within Social Security but nothing has worked. Please sign this petition so I can get the process moving along to get help paying for my treatments. I have my faith and I thank God for being with me every step of the way I know he will make a way to provide. The Lord is my helper and he will never leave nor forsake me.
