The Issue

As a NewYorker who owns Jeremy Lin's many jersey, t-shirt, hat, as much as I love to see Jeremy Lin playing for Knicks, I think he's better off playing for Rockets. Here are my reasons.

1. As Knicks player like Melo & JR already expressed, I'm sure many other teammates think the same thing, there are resentment and jealousy about Lin's contract, which would no doubt lead to poor team chemistry. Remember when D'antoni placed Lin as the leader, how badly Melo played? His shooting percentage was so low. and when D'antoni resigned and Woodson said he wanted his superstars at clutch time, Melo & Co. finally played defense. When Lin was injured, suddenly Melo found his rhythm and his shooting percentage increased. Basketball is a team game. All the players have to feel comfortable and confident playing together. If some players take personal about Lin's salary, then they wouldn't play well together.

2. Media and public would blame Lin for any losing game next season. You can see that even now. Big silly mouth Stephen A. Smith already blamed Lin didn't play hero like Derrick Rose vs. Heat because then there would be no drama like now since Lin would be still walk in brace. Under excruciating pressure, how can we expect Lin play his game? If he's trying very hard to fit in Melo and Amare's game, how can we expect him to grow naturally and become a great PG? The vicious media would say so many things that would make Lin lose his confidence and confused about how to play his game. Under such magnifying glass, any mistake Lin would make would become a big deal, how can you expect a player to grow under such ridiculous pressure?

3. It's better to let Knicks regret not to sign Lin than let Knicks to blame Jeremy Lin for for any losing games. Melo & Amare don't play well together. Lin has to sacrifice his game style for Melo the ball hugger, which is bad for Lin's confidence and growth, but then the media will blame Lin.  Let Melo and Amare be the superstars until their contract expire, then when Knicks re-organize your team, maybe Lin would consider to come back.

4. Rockets with their previous experience with Yao Ming recognizes Lin's value and does everything to recruit Lin. They are honest and straightforward, they don't play tricks like Knicks. They would build a great team around Lin and Howard (if Howard comes to Rockets). Lin would be able to play his game and not to have to sacrifice his points for Melo. Without too much pressure from the organization and teammates, Lin could learn, grow and shine naturally.

so as much as I love Lin as a Knicks, please do not match his contract and let Lin play for Rockets. Thanks.
