There are about over 76 million illnesses; 325,000 hospitalizations, and 5,000 deaths every year all because of food borne illnesses. Many companies have abused their workers, animals, and use unethical practices in making the food. They ultimately, keep the public in the dark on what is happening in the food industry.
This law will require the USDA to identify pathogens that can threaten humanity, establish performance standards to reduce the number of pathogens in meat and poultry, and confirms the USDA's power to enforce these standards to shut down plants who repeatedly breach basic health standards. How many deadly food outbreaks must we go through before there is a change?
The food companies are not allowed to use unethical practices yet they continue to do so. This law can bring an end to these practices. And flamebroiled justice (with two sides and a drink) can finally be served.
