Keep Shell out of the Arctic Ocean and Prevent New Oil Drilling and Leasing

The Issue

The Arctic is the world’s air conditioner. Its white ice reflects hot summer sun and keeps our climate stable. But it's also getting hotter twice as fast as the rest of the world. Arctic ice melt is hitting historic highs, devastating local inhabitants with flooding and making it harder for animals like polar bears, walrus and whales to find food.

Despite no proven technology for responding to an oil spill in Arctic waters, the Department of the Interior is considering offering new leases in America’s Arctic Ocean, and Shell just renewed their efforts to drill in 2014. Tell Secretary Jewell to protect the Arctic Ocean and not approve any new drilling or leasing.
