Keep Santa Clarita Valley together!

The California Citizens Redistricting Commission is charged with drawing new legislative lines for Congress, State Senate and Assembly.

Despite public testimony and letters from the public requesting that Santa Clarita Valley be kept in a single Congressional and Assembly seat, the commission has had discussions about carving up the SCV into multiple districts.

The rational is the Santa Clarita Valley is not one city; and therefore, is not one community!

So we need to speak with one voice that we are one community!

Please sign the petition below and tell the California Citizens Redistricting Commission that Santa Clarita Valley is one community!.

This petition asks that “The Commission” keep Santa Clarita Valley whole as one community and combines us with a “Like” community, who currently share our resources and values.

Don't break up the Santa Clarita Valley!

To the Redistricting commission

Dear Commissioners,

As a citizen of the Santa Clarita Valley I want to urge you to keep our valley in a single Congressional and Assembly district.

The Santa Clarita Valley is bordered by Ventura County to the west, Aqua Dulce to the east, Castaic to the north, and the San Fernando Valley to the south.

Our valley should remain together for the following reasons:

Education: Our valley is served by the William S. Hart Union High School District (that has 5 elementary school districts as feeder schools) and the Santa Clarita Community College District.

Business: The SCV has a diversified economy and local businesses enjoy the benefits of an Enterprise Zone that spans a wide swath of the valley.

Recently our community formed the SCV Economic Development Corp. to retain and attract business.

Planning: Los Angeles County and the City of Santa Clarita are developing “One Valley, One Vision” for regional planning.

Commitment to quality of life: Our suburban communities share a deep sense of family.
Our valley is committed to preserving open space that provides recreational activities for every member of the family.

Again, I urge you to keep Santa Clarita Valley whole.
Sincerely,
