As members of the The University of Texas at El Paso community, we believes that having concealed weapons on campus will pose a threat to UTEP students, faculty, staff and administrators.  We feels that guns have no business being allowed on a university or college campus. We understand both sides of the argument and the sensitive nature that security is a priority. Past events and tragedies dictate preventive measures to be passed. However, we believe the passage of this bill is not prudent in the UTEP region. We believe there are many external factors that come into play which other regions do not take into account. The safety of our campus is of utmost priority. We have evaluated all options and possibilities, but we stand on the notion that if this bill is passed it will be detrimental to the UTEP Community.
