Eleven-year old contestant Zoe Assasie was on the verge of a Jeopardy Kids Tournament Championship in the episode which aired on July 29, 2013 when victory was seized from her, her distraught parents watching in the audience, helpless to save her from Alex Trebek’s traumatizing ruling on this Final Jeopardy clue in the category “In the Dictionary”:

“The last entry in the Random House Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary is used to represent this annoying sound.”

Zoe lost $15,000 and the game when she was penalized for the submission “What is ZZZ?” According to Mr. Trebek, “What is snoring?” was the correct question because snoring is the sound represented by the last entry, “ZZZ.”

Hey Jeopardy, before heartlessly toying with the dreams of the youth of America so recklessly, perhaps you should consult the definition of the word “represent” in the Webster’s Dictionary. “ZZZ” is not only a word representing an annoying sound, but the word itself is the representation of the annoying sound which it defines.

Let us unite on behalf of Justice for Zoe! Petition Jeopardy to give us an answer and not in the form of a question.
