Justice for Rudy-Maximum Penalty for Christopher Rambone if Found Guilty
The Issue
In RENSSELEAR, N.Y, Christopher Rambone, 23, is charged with killing Rudy, a 10 year old Beagle mix owned by his mother-in-law. The incident occurred on May 24, 2012. Rambone was visiting family in Rensselaer when police say the dog possibly bit his 2-year-old son. Rambone kicked Rudy until he died. He was arrested after a two-week investigation into the incident.
Rambone faces one count of Aggravated Animal Cruelty and Criminal Mischief and Fourth Degree Criminal Mischief, which is a misdemeanor, for killing Rudy. Aggravated animal cruelty is a felony under state Agriculture and Markets Law.
Rambone is no stranger to animal cruelty. He faced Aggravated Animal Cruelty charges in May of 2009. He was convicted of that crime for shooting a puppy to death with a .22-cailber rifle after it went to the bathroom indoors. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail and 3 years probation for this crime. His probationary term would have expired early last month if he had not been terminated early.
Rambone has a Grand Jury trial date July 25, 2012.
