Gurmat condemns the slaughtering of animals in any way, and it is therefore hurtful to many Sikhs worldwide that this act is undertaken at the Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib (one of the 5 temporal authorities of the Sikhs). It is not undertaken in any other of the Takhts nor is it permitted in any other gurdwara (sikh temple) worldwide.

On the Prakash Diwas of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Sikh Sewak Society International and other panthic jathebandi’s/Gurdwaras have started a petition to collect 500,000 signatures to present to Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee (S.G.P.C.) and Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib.

In this way we can make our voice heard to stop anti-gurmat activity, slaughtering of goats. We have to make a collective effort in order to be heard by the authorities.

We are encouraged by many worldwide to join us ,we further invite all individuals, writers, organisations, gurdwaras and jathebandi's to contact Sikh Sewak Society International to show support on this issue.

Stop Anti-Gurmat Activity of Slaughtering Goats at Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib

Respected Jathedars Jio,

We would like to make a humble request that the anti-gurmat act of slaughtering goats at Sri Hazoor Sahib and other Gurdwara's, in the name of Sikhi, should be stopped.

The Sangat worldwide feels very hurtfull by this manmat happening at such a sacred place as Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib.

We would appreciate your immediate attention to this issue.
