It Needs to Get Better at Stonehill College

The Issue

Please sign with your name and indicate your status as current student, alumna/alumnus, staff, faculty, family of community member, or other.

Put this information after your last name after a hyphen, not in the "why are you signing this?"  box otherwise we won't be able to see it!

The college has already pledged not to discriminate on the basis of race, gender, disability, age, marital status, religion, color, or national origin, but sexual orientation is currently not protected by the college's policies. Changing the policy will have practical benefits for Stonehill, aligning us with the 92% of colleges before us in the U.S. News and World Report. Also, because we do not have an inclusive non-discrimination policy, we have been repeatedly denied entry into the most prestigious national honors society, Phi Beta Kappa.

But above all, changing the policy will allow us to uphold our mission of creating a more just and compassionate world, and is therefore in line with our Catholic tradition. If the college aims to educate and respect "the whole person," that should include all the people on our campus.
