It is time to permanently remove prayer from our public school system.

Prayer in our schools permit school officials to dictate how students should pray.  We live in a heterogeneous society, and many students who attend public schools are not Christian.  Many students are atheists,  Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, etc.  By promoting prayer in schools, we are promoting accepted forms of institutionalized discrimination which punish and harm those students who choose to believe something different.

Kids go to school to learn; they do not go to school to pray.  Parents have the choice to send their children to parochial schools, but parents must NOT be permitted to pollute public institutions of learning with beliefs that are not shared by all students.

RE: Prayer in public schools

Dear Representative

It is time to permanently remove prayer from our public school system.

Prayer in our schools permit school officials to dictate how students should pray. We live in a heterogeneous society, and many students who attend public schools are not Christian. Many students are atheists, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, etc.
