Currently the legislation in Kansas is in talks to reform the budget for Education. The cuts to funding will cause program cuts, rural school closures, and larger class sizes.

Governer Brownback's cuts will result in the loss of arts programs, teacher lay offs, and an overall dip in Education quality for Kansas students. Recently President Obama put out a call to the nation to focus on Education reform and ensuring that our students recieve a quality education. Cutting the funding to Education will result in larger class sizes, which has been proven to have a negative impact on classroom environment.

We would like to use these funds, or a penny from our current taxes, or use the money from the Kansas lottery as it was intended, to ensure that teachers remain in classrooms, class size stays small, and programs do not get cut. We must work together to ensure the future of our state.

A penny tax increase will help ensure that Kansas children will recieve the Education that they need to be successful and productive members of society. Benefiting the Kansas economy and livlihood.
