Increase Ladies' 8-ball Division team skill level posting from 19 to 23

Created August 11, 2011

The Issue

Based on recent studies, it has been concluded that fifty percent of female 8-ball players registered with the American Poolplayers Association (“APA”) are a skill level 4, 5, 6 or 7. APA’s outdated statistics claim that a mere sixteen percent are a skill level 4 or higher. Furthermore, APA limits the team skill level posting limit for the Ladies’ 8-ball Division to 19, whereas the co-ed Open 8-ball Division can post to 23. Due to APA’s outdated figures, many higher skill level female players who have diligently worked to improve their playing ability are unable to compete in the Ladies’ 8-ball Division and are forced to abandon their Ladies' 8-ball teams. We are requesting that the team skill level posting limit in the APA Ladies’ 8-ball Division be increased from 19 to 23.
