The Teamsters Local 507 represents the blood service workers of the American Red Cross in Cleveland, Ohio. They have been without a contract and are now on strike. The issues are working conditions affecting donor safety, pay, and benefits.

Workers have been without a contract since May of 2011.  They are asking that staffing levels be more accurate with the amount of donors presenting at blood drives to allow much needed breaks and lunches.  This affects donor safety as some staff are working 10 - 12 hours a day without a break.  They are also at an impass with health insurance as the cost of it is increasing dramatically while their pay has not increased.

These are hard working people and they need the help of the general public to help their cause, as well as the support from each other.
