Improve No Child Left Behind

The Issue

Carpe diem, seize the opportunity to support environmental education.  As you consider amendments to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, E.S.E.A., aka, the No Child Left Behind Act, I urge you to expand opportunities for environmental and outdoor education by including the provisions of the No Child Left Inside Act, N.C.L.I., H.R. 2054, S. 866, introduced in Congress last year.  Increasing environmental literacy has proven to expand the academic pipeline for S.T.E.M. subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and is an innovative way to give students the sense of excitement so essential to encouraging scientific inquiry. Comprehensive environmental education has been shown to improve student achievement across core subject areas and increase engagement in learning.  Please, include the provisions of the N.C.L.I. in the re-authorized E.S.E.A., now.
