I am a taxpayer and I stand againist a government shutdown.
I am a taxpayer and I stand againist a government shutdown.
The Issue
I am not the “Tea Party”. I am part of the majority of American taxpayers who believe in a Washington that works together. The Washington that takes ideas from both sides of the aisles and works together to get work accomplished. I am the majority that believes that a shutdown of the government is not warranted and would
hinder the recovery of our economy and our joint spirit. I believe that the government can be improved but only through the joint evaluation of programs and policies. Using numeric figures to cut instead of methodical plans and collaborative efforts does not work.
We as taxpayers demand that Congress work for us – work for the common good. No longer will we stand and allow radical factions of either party to rule out the majority. We demand that cuts be made to inefficiencies
and duplication; not to programs that work and assist the People. We want to protect programs that help educate our citizens, secure our Nation, respond to disasters and prevent terrorist attacks, help those who fought for our Nation, help feed the hungry and work to advance our ability to compete with the world. A compromise on the budget that does not address the bloated costs of defense or inefficient and unwarranted entitlement costs does not speak of a budget that we the People support. A compromise that actually puts people out of work in either the private sector or public sector does not accomplish the will of the people.
Long-term debt reduction is important to us, but slashing and cutting domestic programs without regard to their effect on the People, the economy and even the safety of this Nation is not what governing is about. Long-term solutions look into reforming all
aspects of government including revenue collection, defense and entitlements. These are the steps forward to securing our financial wellbeing.
I am a taxpayer and a citizen of our Nation; you represent me – the majority. This is what we want from our government; the government elected to represent us all!
