Allow Hyatt Regency Indianapolis Workers a Fair Process to Unionize
Allow Hyatt Regency Indianapolis Workers a Fair Process to Unionize
The Issue
A strong majority of workers at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis have been fighting for years for a fair process to form a union. Hyatt managers have responded with harassment and intimidation. Workers at the Hyatt can start at as little as $7.25 an hour with few or no benefits. The Hyatt and its subcontractor HSS have been fined $50,000 by OSHA for health and safety violations. Yet the Hyatt continues to subcontract through HSS, an agency that is currently under investigation by the Department of Labor, Federal Wage and Hour Division. During the Super Bowl, hotels like the Hyatt will make millions of dollars while its employees live in poverty. Rooms at the Hyatt will go for more than $1000/night. We know Indianapolis workers deserve better and we stand in solidarity with them as they fight for a better standard. If indianapolis really is a first-class city, then Hyatt workers should not be treated as second-class citizens.
THAT IS WHY I WILL BE OUTSIDE THE HYATT ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3 AT 430PM-TO MARCH IN SOLIDARITY WITH INDY WORKERS.
