The banking giants HSBC and DBS have bankrolled palm oil company Bumitama Group. HSBC have provided £260million in loans and other financial services to the destructive palm oil company since 2010.

Bumitama have been illegally destroying irreplaceable rainforest in Borneo to make way for palm oil plantations.

Bumitama and their subsidiaries have been responsible for killing endangered Orangutans. Bumitama have also been leaving starving wild orangutans with their babies, stranded in pockets of land for conservation groups to fund rescue and translocation. 

Bumitama have ignored repeated requests by conservation groups and the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) to adopt better environmental management plans.

Urging all general public and corporations to stop banking with HSBC until such time HSBC cease funding Bumitama.  Bankrolling Bumitama is allowing the palm oil company Bumitama and their subsidiaries to cause further damage and destruction. 

Note: The petition image is baby orangutan named Sura, now in the care of BOSF.  Sura was left orphaned in a palm oil plantation belonging to Bumitama.

Sura had some of his fingers chopped off by plantation workers, most likley caused during the killing of his mother.
