Please sign into law NY Ostomy Supplies Coverage Bill - Assembly bill A10140 and Senate bill S7893/A10140

The Issue

An ostomy is a surgically created opening on the abdomen for elimination of waste, usually as a result of cancer, disease, or trauma. Life can go on with a new normal after ostomy surgery, except when patients are unable to get insurance reimbursement for supplies, or are limited in their selection or amount of supplies.  This can be disastrous for patients. Most insurances do cover the cost of supplies (mnus usual co-pays and deductibles), but there are certain NYS insurance plans, some private insurances, and some managed care plans who do not include coverage.

The New York Ostomy Supplies Coverage Bill has now passed in both the New York Senate and Assembly; all that is needed now is for Honorable Governor Andrew Cuomo to sign it into law.
