There is a huge population of people, who do not know how HIV is transmitted. The rate of HIV infection is climbing in the young, HIV is preventable, education and awareness are the keys to prevention. Teach about Testing.

An estimated 5,259 people aged 13-24 years were diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, representing 14.3 percent of all new cases, The number have climbed, let's take action.

Dear Decision Maker,

With the rate of HIV infection increasing within the younger population, part of the curriculum in the schools should include educating the students through awareness of HIV and testing. With all the over the counter products designed to target young people, it is important to teach about the purpose and need for testing. HIV test counseling includes letting the person being tested know the risk factors associated with different types of risky behavior, the benefits of getting tested and the difference between such terms as confidential and anonymous. Plans for behavior change can incorporate risk reduction as part of their protocol.
We the undersigned also feel that this curriculum should also include learning about the dangers of the other sexually transmitted diseases and how to minimize the risk of contracting these other diseases.
