Every society and almost every country has profited from African slaves.  The discrimination after laws stopping the practice continues, mainly in the United States. The inclusion of African American history into American history books at the K-12 level can give students a better understanding and tolerance to how African Americans built the U.S. It will also give the world a chance understand the psychological damage that continues to flourish within its communities.

African American History should be mandatory

Dear Representative

African American history has been distorted or left out of most history books. The books that do contain the history are found in college courses. It is vital to the United States to teach children K-12 the position African Americans have offered to this country. The omittance of their history is why discrimination continues to exist and African Americans are damaged psychologically. Damaged minds can not help our nation as a whole. We need to turn the issue around so more positive actions, job placement, and productive African Americans can help move our country forward into the future.
