HEY CONGRESS :: TIE MY SALARY TO YOUR SALARY :: AN ACT OF PARITY
By linking the salaries of Congressional Representatives and Senators to the salary of the Average American Worker, variously pegged at somewhere between $22,000 - $49,000 (times two for that having to maintain two households thing), our representatives should develop a healthy inclination to craft policies that benefit the majority of Americans.
We the People, are hereby petitioning you, as an elected representative, to endorse, co-sponsor, and vote for legislation that would tie the salaries of Congressional Representatives and United States Senators to the salary of the Average American Worker, which has been variously pegged somewhere between $22,000-$49,000 per year, tentatively to be known as "AN ACT OF PARITY."
Parity is defined by the Mirriam-Webster Dictionary as the quality or state of being equal or equivalent. The People feel that it is important for our Representatives to be cognizant of the socio-economic state of the People when crafting laws that will affect us all.
We the People feel that you will develop a healthy inclination to craft legislation that will benefit the majority of the American people with this legislation in place.
When you sign this petition, it will go to your Congressional Representative, your two Senators, and to the President of the United States.
Typically, you can expect to receive a written response to your petititon. If and when you do, please consider sending a copy to petitions@trout-2012.us.
