Beautiful Thailand has many dirty secrets...
One of which is Monks keeping Monkeys in cages at their temples. All unwanted animals- if they are lucky, are brought to the temples because, the Monks have an unwritten responsibility to care for the animals. Most of the time, baby Monkeys are brought to temples, as their mothers are killed by poachers. Unfortunately though, most of the time, Monkeys (and other animals) are kept inhumanely by the Monks.
Young Monkeys get tied to trees with short chains around their waist- many of which, as the Monkey grows, cuts into their waist and causes serious wounds.
When they get bigger, they are crammed into cages some hand made from planks of wood so hardly any light gets in, some, with no shade from the burning sun.
Children and adults taunt the Monkeys, they aren't taught to respect any animal so to them a Monkey is great entertainment.
They poke sticks through the bars and hit them to get a response.
Many of them die under the care of these Monks. On revisiting Temples, we have noticed Monkeys going missing and within weeks new ones coming in to replace them.
THE GOOD NEWS: We are in touch with a Monkey Sanctuary in Thailand, who are willing to help our Monkeys, by either slowly re- introducing them into the wild or for those who are too old and would not survive in the wild, putting them into the Monkey Sanctuary, where they can live in a big and natural space with other Monkeys. Unfortunately though, unless the Monks concent- which they have never done, the Sanctuary has no rights to take the Monkeys.
OUR AIM: To send this petition to the Thai government to make them aware of the problem and to give the Sanctuary a written authority to take the Monkeys into their care.
PLEASE HELP US BY SIGNING OUR PETITION and if you can donating some money to the Monkey re-homing project...

Dear Sir or Madam,
We the undersigned, cannot tolerate the treatment of Monkeys in temples around Thailand. Most adult Monkeys are caged and left in inadequate conditions by the Monks. Baby Monkeys are tied to trees- as they grow, the rope often causes serious lesions. All temple Monkeys should be given the right to live in a natural environment with other Monkeys. Instead, they are taunted and abused by children and adults. Many of these simple cages deprive them of light or do not protect them from the sun. The Abbott Monks refuse to give the Monkeys to sanctuaries where they can be better cared for by specialist people and veterinarians and some even released back into the wild.
Please give our Monkey Sanctuary a letter of authority, so that in these welfare cases, they have the right to take the Monkeys away from the temples and into care.
Monkeys are our closest ancestors. They are reported to have at least 93% of DNA, identical to humans. Like us, they need to be free and have interaction with each other. In the wild, they would never live alone as they do in these cages...
Please help us to help the Monkeys...
Thank You.
