<p><b>Kill After Attack Method</b></p>
<p>Every year hundreds of animals, some threatened, are killed by US law enforcement groups. The reason is animal attacks. The policy of many US agencies when an animal attack occurs is simply kill as many of that animal after the attack. A clear example of this policy is when a cougar attack occurs in California the police are mobilized to kill any cougar within certain limits of the area. This policy is sloppy and brutal, killing animals not responsible for the attack and having a detrimental effect on the local wildlife population. But cougars are not the only ones affected by the law. All animals including bears, wolves, coyotes, deer, and many others are affected by this policy. Please help correct the system and protect animals from a vendetta killing policy. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><b>Stop Using Chimps in Experiments</b></p>
<p>What do the United States and Gabon have in common? Would it surprise you to know that they are the only two countries in the world that still use chimpanzees in animal experiments and testing? Chimpanzees are highly intelligent animals, cooperate with and learn from each other, participate in cultural and social activities such as dancing in the rain, and make and use tools. They have also been shown to have complex social and emotional relationships similar to that of a young child's.&nbsp;And despite all this these animals are still used in barbaric tests and experimentation here in the US.&nbsp;Eight federally funded research centers use primates (three keep chimpanzees) as to study AIDS, hepatitis, cancer, Alzheimer, Parkinson, leprosy, heart disease, and other human health problems even though chimpanzees would never contract these ailments under normal circumstances. Chimpanzees are also the victims of bioterrorism research that is conducted at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Experiments conducted on behalf of what is known as Project Bioshield subject the animals to painful and highly stressful bone-marrow extraction (some animals are apparently kept isolated for up to 20 years) in order to develop antibodies for anthrax and other pathogens. The tests are redundant and unnecessary because non-animal antibodies have already been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or are in late-stage clinical trials.&nbsp;Most of the other 1,300 captive chimpanzees in the U.S. are confined to zoos or used and abused in the entertainment industry. Only about 500 live in sanctuaries. Please help the chimps and urge the&nbsp;ICCVAM to ban all testing and experimentation on them now.</p>

<p><b>Save the Horseshoe Crabs</b></p>
<p>The horseshoe crab, a relic of our ancient planet's, past mat soon be gone forever.&nbsp;The horseshoe crab is endangered or extinct everywhere else in the world except for a range along the Canadian, US, and Mexican Atlantic coast.&nbsp;Besides being an integral if not unique part of the ecosystem the horseshoe crab also plays an important role in the food cycle. One particular bird, a type of sandpiper called a red knot, owes its very survival to horseshoe crabs. Its migratory route from Tierra del Fugeo to the Arctic Circle includes a stopover there that is timed to the horseshoe crabs annual spawning on Delaware's beaches. The birds gobble up horseshoe crab eggs which are high in fat and protein, more than doubling their body mass and giving them strength to continue their journey a few days later. However, this system is being upset as the horseshoe crabs population is rapidly declining. A study found that 53,000 birds were wintering in Tierra del Fuego in 2000, but by 2008 that had dropped to just 14,800. And one of the key reasons for their fall in numbers is the birds cannot harvest enough crab eggs for their annual migration. Scientist fear that this loss of bird population may have other more severe side effects on other ecosystems and wildlife. At this same time horseshoe crab numbers were also noted to be decreasing and less crabs appeared at each spawning period. Why all this decline; sadly the main cause is human harvesting of horseshoe crabs. The crabs are commercially harvested in the thousands for bait. The business has continued to grow and three million crabs were harvested in past seasons. This has caused a dramatic decrease in the crab populations and also destroyed aquatic ecosystems with dredging techniques for harvesting. Numbers have continued to decrease and pro-harvesting organizations have stopped or diluted all attempts to regulate or stop their industry. The crabs need our help. The time to act is now; show you voice and help protect the horseshoe crab from extinction. Together we can urge the US Congress to enact conservation laws and sever regulations (if not end) the horseshoe crab harvesting industry. Whatever the case we must act now before this timeless creature runs out of time. &nbsp; &nbsp;</p>
