I pass trucks transporting pigs (presumably to slaughter) frequently on the highway as I go to and from work. I am always horrified and saddened. Yesterday, for the first time, I pulled up to a red light facing one of these trucks. It was warm and my windows were down. The pigs were screaming. Now, I used to own a pet pig, and I loved him dearly. He screamed when he was very upset or frightened. These pigs were at a stoplight, and they were screaming. What we do to farm animals, so thoughtlessly, so heartlessly, is unconscionable.

This is just one step of many we must take.
