Help stop cuts to the Chapel Hill Public Library
The Issue
The Chapel Hill Public Library recently underwent an expansion to provide the community with a larger space and more resources. The new library opened in early April; see: http://chapelhillpubliclibrary.org/
Chapel Hill Public Library maintains the highest per capita circulation of any public library in North Carolina and consistently ranks among the two most highly valued services of the Town. With its expansion, CHPL is already serving 30% more visitors.
The Chapel Hill Town Council's proposed 2013-14 budget would:
Reduce the hours per week by 15%, from 68 to 58
Cut down on weekend hours
Result in longer lines and less access to staff
Cut services and programs that benefit people of all ages and levels of income and education
