Mesirow capital, the primary investory in Serious Energy who runs the factory being liquidated, has the power to save a vibrant factory in Chicago from the chopping block and still make good on it's investments. 

Serious Energy made a pledge to its workers when it announced it would be closing last February. The company said it would work to find a buyer for its Chicago factory in order to preserve good jobs. A buyer appeared in the form of New Era Windows, a cooperative created by workers from the former factory. On Monday, July 2nd, Serious told New Era Windows that instead of selling, it plans to liquidate the factory. The worker-run cooperative has the funds to buy the factory and create good green jobs in Chicago, but Serious Energy and Mesirow Financial are standing in the way.
