Help Put a Stop to Anti-LGBT Attacks on the Spanish-Language Program "José Luis Sin Censura"

The Issue

Today, GLAAD and the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) filed a joint complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) against the Spanish-language television program "José Luis Sin Censura" in response to the show's unrelenting attacks on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) guests. (See more information at http://www.glaad.org/jlsc)

In over a dozen episodes that aired between June 18, 2010 and November 11, 2010 alone, the program contained anti-LGBT language, including epithets such as "maricón," "joto" and "puñal" (or "fa**ot" in English), and incited guests and audience members to engage in verbal and sometimes even physical attacks on people perceived to be LGBT. Many episodes showed the audience standing and shouting anti-gay epithets at guests. The Women's Media Center also supports the complaint given the show's hypersexualized images of women.

To watch video from the program, go to http://www.glaad.org/jlsc. WARNING – Offensive, lewd content.

"José Luis Sin Censura" airs twice daily, Monday – Friday, in 37 markets throughout the country. The show is produced and distributed by Burbank, Calif.-based LBI, Liberman Broadcasting Inc.

HELP GLAAD, NHMC TELL THE FCC THAT ANTI-LGBT ATTACKS ON TELEVISION ARE UNACCEPTABLE
