90% of homeless youth do not have a High School Diploma. Often dropping out of High School can be the first step to homelessness.

Please email or write to your Senators and Representative and urge them to support this vital legislation that would provide education and employment services to young people 18-24 years old who have already left school or who are at risk of dropping out.

Right now, 5.1 million young people between 18 and 24 lack a high school diploma. During times of economic uncertainty, finding a job without an education is nearly impossible... and for those who do find employment, statistics show they will earn considerably less than those who graduated high school.

Please visit www.forsakengeneration.com to find out more on how you can help.

We also encourage you to visit www.covenanthouse.org An incredible organization that works with homeless youth that started this petition on their website.

Help pass the RAISE-UP Act.

Greetings,

Dear Senator/Representative,

Too many students are dropping out of high school. Today, 5.1 million young people between ages 18 and 24 lack a high school diploma. This year, they will earn $10,000 less in comparison to high school graduates and $31,000 less than college graduates. Compared to those with more education, they face increasingly limited employment opportunities, and are twice as likely to live in poverty. We must do something to ensure that every young person has access to the tools, services, and resources to complete his or her education and obtain gainful employment.

I am writing to ask for your support of S.1608 and H.R.3982 – The Reengaging Americans in Serious Education by Uniting Programs Act (RAISE-UP Act). The RAISE-UP Act addresses the educational and workforce preparation needs of older youth, as well as obstacles – like mental health, homelessness, and transportation – that inhibit them from achieving their fullest potential.

Every young person deserves the opportunity to improve him or herself and contribute to our society.
