THERE IS INEQUALITY IN IMMIGRATION.

If your spouse is from another country, you can petition the United States government so that you and your partner and their children can live together as a family. That is, unless your spouse happens to be the same sex as you. Same-sex couples are discriminated against and do not have a legal way to bring their family into the United States in order to become citizens. This injustice forces couples to choose between their family and their country. Can you imagine the unnecessary heartache and impossible choices that end up shattering families and costing our country tragic losses of talented members of society?

FORTUNATELY, THERE IS A SOLUTION.

The Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) (H.R. 1537​/S. 821)

ends this needless discrimination. This sensible bill creates a legal path to permanent residence for these family members. The bill also provides a path to citizenship for permanent partners and their children currently living in the US. We urge you to contact your legislators to ensure this bill’s passage into law. It’s time to provide equality in immigration!
