Your assistance is needed to raise funds for international keystone species. A bill has recently been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives to authorize the U.S. Postal Service to issue a &ldquo;semipostal&rdquo; stamp that would generate funds for rhinos, tigers, elephants, great apes and marine turtles. The Multinational Species Conservation Funds Semipostal Stamp Act, H.R. 1454, would allow members of the public to pay a supplement over the first class letter rate of 42 cents, with the supplement going to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to support grants for conservation of the endangered species. These funds would supplement the annual congressional appropriation for the programs.&nbsp;<br /><br />You may already have written this year to your representative to support increased funding from Congress for multinational species. Now we have an opportunity to supplement these funds through an inventive fundraising program. Your support is needed to persuade Congress to authorize the Multinational Species Conservation Funds semipostal stamp.<br /><br />The fundraising stamp is modeled on the successful Breast Cancer Research stamp, which has sold over 800 million copies since its authorization in 1998, and has raised $59.5 million for breast cancer research.
