My name is Caleb Laieski, 16, of Arizona.
As a bullied gay youth who had to drop out of school for safety reasons, I am currently working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to get support for the Student Non-Discrimination Act, which would require schools to include sexual orientation and gender identity in their current non-discrimination policy.
Please join me in asking Chairman Thomas Harkin, Chair of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, to bring it up for a vote as one of its co-sponsors.
Please Hold a Hearing on SNDA
Dear Chairman Harkin
As a concerned citizen, I am requesting that you give the Student Non-Discrimination Act a hearing in the HELP Committee at the earliest opportunity.
I would also like to express my appreciation for your leadership in co-sponsoring this bill, and I look forward to your continued leadership on this matter.
I also urge you to work with Caleb Laieski, a bullied gay youth in getting this bill through committee.
Signed,
[Your name]
